For most of his career, he has been an essential presence in supporting roles rather than as a bandleader. As a highly valued sideman and driving force, his distinctive bass sound has provided a reliable foundation for countless musicians over many years. Before finally putting down his double bass, he returns to the stage in Langnau as a bandleader. Together with the young musicians Sibyl Hofstetter and Lea Gasser, he interprets rarely performed, atmospheric jazz songs and chansons with touching — and at times defiant — lyrics, alongside his own compositions.
