International Junior Jazz Meeting 2010 For the eighth time, the annual Junior Jazz Meeting will be taking place as a part of the Langnau Jazz Nights in Emmental (Switzerland) from July 27st until 31th. It features young talented players from different countries on an open air stage.
Applicants should be no more than 25 years old and the music performed should have to do with jazz in some sort of way.
The festival offers accommodation and food as well as free tickets to all connected concerts. After performing, the concert will be discussed in a feedback workshop with a teacher of the Jazz Workshop, another element of the Langnau Jazz Nights. There are possibilities to rehearse and have jam sessions. Applicants from abroad get a contribution to travel expenses.
The Junior Jazz Meeting is an opportunity for young aspiring players to meet colleages as well as internationally acclaimed stars in a great musical gathering.
More than a jazz festival 2010 is witnessing the 20th instalment of the award winning Langnau Jazz Nights which once again promises a very attractive line-up.
In 2007, the Langnau Jazz Nights were honoured with the Kanton Bern Cultural Award for a monumental effort spanning nearly two decades to give Jazz a voice outside the urban centres of Switzerland and to continuously further the development of young jazz talent.
The Langnau Jazz Nights are more than a jazz festival: they are also a jazz workshop including a Master Class for Jazz Improvisation for professionals as well as committed amateurs, a Junior Jazz Workshop for kids who would like to discover the world of Jazz and the International Junior Jazz Meeting, a daily performance event presenting young Jazz talent from all over Europe.
The association of the Swiss Jazz School is again awarding 3 prizes for the most talented participants. These prizes (each in the value of 3000 Swiss Francs) are awarded in the form of 2 semesters of the regular curriculum at the general department of the Swiss Jazz School Bern (40 minutes of one-to-one lesson on the instrument, 120 minutes theory and 60 minutes group workshop per week).
